Building Inspection and Asbestos Services

NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) regulatory compliance are an undeniable concern for responsible construction-industry professionals and property operators throughout New York City.

NYBA, a fully accredited and licensed firm specializing in Special Inspection and Progress Inspection services, helps to vanquish the worries of such professionals by expertly providing DOB-mandated inspections at project sites throughout the New York metropolitan area.

PROGRESS INSPECTIONS
NYBA performs Progress Inspections as project-work advances in order to verify substantial compliance with the NYC Building Code and to ensure approved construction documents are in place. Progress inspections are defined in Building Code (BC) 109 and 1 Rules of the City of New York (RCNY 101-07).

SPECIAL INSPECTIONS
NYBA provides Special Inspections, which by mandate focus upon selected materials, equipment, installation, fabrication, erection or placement of components and connections for all types of construction, including Class I projects, as required by NYC Building Code Chapter 17 and elsewhere in the Building Code or its referenced standards.
These inspections confirm compliance with approved DOB construction documents and regulations.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Inspections are performed by NYBA during various stages of construction, addressing each specific project’s needs.
The firm provides its clients with peace of mind by ensuring every regulated component of an installation satisfies DOB and New York City regulations, while helping to keep demanding construction schedules on track.

MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING (MEP) DESIGN SERVICES
NYBA is a prime source for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering services throughout Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the New York metro area.
Within the construction industry, the mission of ensuring the soundness and integrity of a building’s infrastructure is at the heart of a project’s outcome and long-term sustainability. It is also the fuel that drives NYBA’s success in New York’s MEP engineering marketplace.
Whether envisioning the details of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, electrical designs, or plumbing concepts, NYBA tackles each new assignment with the skill and professionalism required for achieving optimum results in projects ranging from new construction to ambitious renovations to redefined commercial sites.

FACADE INSPECTION (LOCAL LAW 11)
To keep buildings safe, owners of properties higher than six stories must have exterior walls and appurtenances, such as balconies, inspected every five years – and they must file a technical façade report with the Department.

Property owners must repair dangerous conditions within 30 days of filing a technical report. Once the work is finished, owners must file an amended report within 14 days.

The required façade inspections are called critical examinations and may only be performed by a Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector. QEWIs are New York State licensed Professional Engineers (PE) or New York State Registered Architects (RA).
